- This is a rekey, not a hardware upgrade. Builder keyways are often common. Every exterior cylinder that can take the new key should, including the door nobody used during showings.
- Work
- Count doors and keyways before pinning.
- Rekey compatible cylinders to one key. Retire the builder keys.
- Flag any door that needs a strike fix before a keypad goes on it.
- Result
- New keys that the last crew does not have. If a cylinder was a mismatched cheap lock on a side door, that one got called out instead of silently left on the old key.
