Personal vehicle lockout in a Romulus hotel lot

Educational process note — how this type of job is typically approached. It is not a write-up of a specific completed job.

Typical setting
Romulus, Michigan
Vehicle or door
Owner’s vehicle, keys inside, hotel or workplace lot near the airport corridor
Locksmith

Problem
Keys or fob on the seat. Lot lighting is poor. The caller may not be standing at the vehicle. This is not a rental-car origination.
Diagnosis
Confirm it is their vehicle, not a rental. Rental keys belong to the rental company. For a personal vehicle, treat it as a normal lockout with worse lighting and a longer drive from Taylor.
Work
  1. Verify ownership before any tool comes out.
  2. Meet at the vehicle. Hotel lobby is not the job site.
  3. Open with the least risk to weatherstrip and glass. Talk spare key if this was the only copy.
Result
Vehicle open when ownership is clear. If it is a rental, the honest answer is to call the rental desk — not to originate a key we should not cut.

Call. Have the year, make, and model if it is a car. Have the city if it is a house or shop. That is enough to start.
